In 2006, Amy Chance, Dennis and Karen, Karl and Jay, all collaborated to bring Catalina Island to the list of exotic rally destinations. The task was gargantuan, and Amy's logistical skills were brought to bear on issues of ferry transportation, supplies and lodging. For the first time, an entire hotel was reserved for the ralliers: The Zane Grey, named after a famous writer of Western novels. It sported fantastic views of the Avalon port and was equipped with comfortable rooms and a swimming pool. The rally was done on foot and in golf carts, and took teams to pet cemeteries, waterfront bars, antique stores, and cliff side viewpoints. All teams were required to sing at a local watering hole. Thankfully, our singing was accompanied by an actual music track so as to make the song recognizable.
