Chip Moore, Laura Ewing and Diana Cohn collaborated on the all- encompassing Bay Area rally, which began in San Francisco and ended in the seaside town of Dillon Beach. It was the first of many rallies conducted in Northern California, and the planning canvassed hundreds of potential cluesites. San Francisco was a treasure trove of clue sites: from Coit Tower to the Castro District, the Embarcadero market place to the Palace of Fine Arts. Teams were sent plodding along the zig-zag corridors of Lombard Street, singing in drag in tattoo parlors, and fishing rally-made mini-tiles out of bakery-ready chocolate cake.
