In 1994, Mark Shuman, Joanna Hurst and Ray Vela took on the task hosting the RR in Texas, and solidified the tradition of alternating hosts and jumping state boundaries.  The themes were off-color slapstick, like "Too Much Coffee Man" and "Cliche Cowboy," and the race covered the longest distance to date, beginning at Jay and Mark's bar ," The Electric Lounge," and ending at Port Isabel on the Gulf Coast. The rally plaque was started and hung at the bar for several years.
